Display devices

Cathode ray tubes were used for displaying large quantities of alphanumeric data. Cathode ray tubes are also used in television. In CRT, we are employing some simple electronic circuitry. Here control over digital size is easily achieved by controlling the deflection sensitivity of the system. For this, time shared deflection and modulator circuits are used. LED display and LCD display are giving promise for future display systems. In LCD displays, power consumption is less. It also promise good contrast ratio. Gas discharge plasma displays are working on the principle of the emission of light in a cold cathode gas filled tube under breakdown condition. These cold cathode numerical indicators are called Nixies. Similar technology is used in segmented gas discharge displays. Segmental LED displays, dot matrix displays, bar graph displays, electroluminescent displays, incandescent displays, electrophoretic image displays, liquid vapour displays etc. are other examples of display systems.
