This type of controllers is in wide use in industry. The tuning of control loops is a major cause of concern for any related industry. The single loop controller with a microprocessor is used widely in industries. A PID control computation is carried out by auto tuning via the loop controller in accordance with the process requirements. The main advantage here is the automatic optimization of controller tuning parameters for any specified response. This allows the system to deal with fouling, varying flow rates, non-linear behavior vessel modifications. Constants P.I and D are set manually by the operator at process start-up and they are again tuned to the desired control characteristic in accordance with the process characteristics.
