Bioinformatics computing

Bioinformatics is the study of how information is represented and transmitted in biological systems starting at the molecular level. Bioinformatics find application in almost all fields. Computer and related technology is a must in the development of bioinformatics since it deals with lots of simulation and data. The other key factors essential and should be discussed in bioinformatics are computer visualization, very large database designs, machine learning, pattern matching, statistical methods and distributed computing techniques. Bioinformatics involves in collection, manipulation, analysis and transmission of huge quantities of data and hence computers are essential part of that. There are four main application areas in bioinformatics-process control, archiving, numerical processing and communications. The different technologies used for these applications are robotics (process control), databases (archiving), simulation (numerical processing) and internet (communications).
