Laser printer

High quality prints can be obtained from laser printers. The main components of a laser printer are a laser writing beam, a surface charging station, a cleaner, a paper fixing station, a photosensitive surface, a transfer station, a paper feed, a developing station and a revolving drum. Xerography method is used here. The stuff to be printed is broken up into dots. These dots are then projected through a semiconductor laser beam and a series of lenses onto a revolving drum having a photosensitive surface. Surface charging station charges the photosensitive surface over rotating drum by corona discharge method. When the laser beam strikes, surface become conducting depending upon the image. When rotating drum passes through the developing station, this conducting surface comes into contact with carbon particles of the toner and image is formed. The transfer station is for heat treatment.
